Darrell Jackson Gardens Upgrade

Our Project team recently completed an upgrade to this beautiful neighbourhood park for Inner West Council. Darrell Jackson Gardens in Summer Hill is a popular park of local heritage significance. The park offers a range of recreation, including tennis courts, a skate park, and the only junior-size cricket pitch in NSW.

Marsupial undertook the upgrade to the entire park including a new playground that caters for a wider range of ages and abilities, with in-ground trampolines, an obstacle course and climbing structure, a nest swing, nature play elements, new plants and landscaping and a new sunshade. The tennis courts were revitalised with new nets, posts and resurfacing. A new cricket wicket and oval turf were installed, and the skate park was crack-sealed and repainted.

Our team constructed a WSUD drainage swale, with sandstone spalls to improve drainage and erosion control at the site. Large sandstone blocks were scattered throughout the park to create additional seating and shaded seating amongst the mature trees.

Other amenities include a new BBQ area with shade, seating and tables, new asphalt and filter pave pathways and an upgrade to the entrance on Carlton Crescent, which included the relocation of the existing timber pergola.

An opening was held last Saturday. In attendance were Mayor Darcy Byrne, the Inner West Council team, Cricket NSW and Tennis NSW, joined by the local community including the colourful Inner West Roller Derby League. The Marsupial team was acknowledged for the high-quality finishes and professionalism in upgrading this much-loved community space.
